The History of JWIN for the 3a/3c/3mx/Siena
To keep the size of the .ZIP file down, I left the history section out. However, for those of you who are really interested, I've made this page specially!
This history page applies to JWIN for the Psion 3a/3c/3mx/Siena. If you want to see the history of the EPOC version, please click here.
- v1.2F released on 21/12/1996
- v1.21F released on 23/12/1996
- Fixed a bug meaning that you could only install on drive M.
- Added a "Refresh" (Psion-Shift-F) option to allow the user to update the display.
- Reduced the memory used when switching away by about 10K!
- Slightly reduced size of the .opa
- v1.3F released on 12/01/1997
- VAT/Tax rate now user-defined via "Set preferences"
- Made Quick Calc an optional module
- Fixed bugs in Quick Calc for decimal point on Siena
- Fixed a few bugs in the conversions data file and also added some new values.
- Fixed a bug in the "Temperature Conversion" where it showed answers to many decimal places - oops!
- Some more enhancements/fixes which I can't remember ;-)
- v1.4F released on 20/04/1997
- All known bugs were fixed
- Added currency convertor
- Added Numerical (bases) convertor (thanks to Bill Belfield)
- Lots of minor changes to make JWIN more like the Psion "standard" applications
- Added the ability to save the last used values
- Help is now available from all main program menus/dialogs
- Added the facility to support CONTROL-HELP (Index)
- Changed some of the quick calculator to add support for commas as decimal points on foreign machines
- A new, more Psion like error handler
- Once again, there's a few more minor things....
- v1.41F released on 26/06/1997
- Fixed a bug with swapping currencies as best I could. (Large exchange rates would get set to 0 because the number of decimal places was too short, so I added the ability to vary the number of decimal places just for the rate)
- Added a much requested "Time Calculator"
- v1.42F released on 14/08/1997
- Fixed a bug in Currency conversions when saving last used values
- That's it!
- v1.50F released on 25/04/1998
- Completely re-wrote the currency convertor! Now it's far more usable and flexible - you can add (up to 50) currencies to a database and convert between any of them! The new system also allows you to change or delete currencies and also set your Home currency (which is what the rates for the rest are based on).
- Added a "Stopwatches" module which uses the special FRC: counter on the Psion to be highly accurate
- Re-arranged the menu a bit - "Modules" now has it's own menu place for access to any installed modules of mine and....
- Made JWIN extensible by allowing users to load their own OPL modules. This means, if you have a small OPL function you use and would perhaps like in JWIN, you can now access it from within JWIN itself, rather than going to the system screen, etc.
- Added the preference to make the ESC key exit JWIN (or switch it to the background or just do nothing like before).
- Several new values were added to the conversions data file.
- Made several changes to "Fuel use" to allow user-selection of which units the output is displayed in.
- Fixed a minor bug which caused memory to be gradually 'eaten' away if you switched away from and back to JWIN frequently.
- Fixed problems which occured when CAPS Lock was on with help detection from menus/dialogs
- Made several other 'incremental' changes to conform to Psion standards, and generally make JWIN more usable.
- v1.51F released on 31/08/1998
- Added several values to the conversions data file
- Fixed a couple of minor memory bugs
- Some tweaks to the help file
- That's it - not a major upgrade at all :-)
- v1.52F released on 07/10/1998
- Added proper support for the Series 3mx
- Some help file tweaks again
- That's it! Again, this was a very minor update.
