News on the latest developments of my programs

For your information, I've noted the order in which I intend to port my OPL16 programs to EPOC machines. Of course, JWIN has already been ported to a EPOC version!

1.	Launch Pad v2.15F	(3a/3c/3mx/Siena)	will be ported to	Launch Pad v1.00	(EPOC)
2.	TimeMan v4.00F	(3a/3c/3mx)	will be ported to	TimeMan v1.00	(EPOC)

Please note: The above "order of porting" and final feature sets are always subject to change

As of yet, I have no plans to port PassApps to EPOC.

TimeMan v4.10 Developments

The current version of TimeMan is v4.00F which you can download from the TimeMan page.

• I've added the ability to set alarms based on any of the 6 world clocks (as well as on "Home time"). This is very useful if you want to, say, have an alarm go off at 10am New York time to remind you to phone someone there. The new feature saves the user from doing any calculations themselves.
• Added ability to show data for any other World city (chosen at the time) as well as for the 6 cities of the clocks.
• I've Completely re-written the currency convertor in the Conversions module! Now it's far more usable and flexible - you can add (up to 50) currencies to a database and convert between any of them! The new system also allows you to change or delete currencies and also set your Home currency (which is what the rates for the rest are based on).
• Several new values have also been added to the conversions data file
• Altered TimeMan's screen drawing procedures, so that it now uses over 50% less memory when running in the background!!
• Made a display preference for large digital clock mode - you can now have the current date displayed or the program information (as before).
• Added the preference to make the ESC key exit TimeMan (or switch it to the background or just do nothing like before).
• New event handler added to TimeMan, this now enables auto-switch off to work when TimeMan is in the foreground as well as the background.
• Allowed the displaying of the 'new style' 3c clocks on the 3mx too
• All known bugs fixed - most concerned TimeMan's use when CAPS LOCK was on.
• I hope to be able to alter the "Reminder" handling code, so that that they still activate even when your Psion is off.
• A 'DaysInYear' function (tells you the number of days gone and left in the year for a given date)
• A 'Density' section for the conversions module
• I'd like to add a day/night map (as seen in W2 for instance) as a 4th view into TimeMan. At the moment, I am a bit stuck on this, so if you can help me, please get in touch.
• Something I'd like very much to do is change the whole File Manager module, hopefully adding a nice UI (User Interface) to it. What I have in mind is something similar to the excellent 3T.
• I'd also like to add some Financial Calculations as a module (things such as ROCE, Percentage Gross/Net Profit, Gearing ratio, etc.)

Note: A lot of code in TimeMan for the 3a/3c/3mx uses system calls. I am currently delaying starting TimeMan for EPOC until new OPX's are released which will provide access to the more advanced functions I wish to include. So....

• A full (or as near full as I can get it) port of the TimeMan v4.00F code (and therefore features) will begin when I get chance.

• Some form of Clothes conversion data (although compatiability with the Siena makes this difficult)
• I'd also like to add some Financial Calculations as a module (things such as ROCE, Percentage Gross/Net Profit, Gearing ratio, etc.)

• Other language translations - currently I have Spanish and Swedish in mind.
• A cross-rate calculator for the currencies, to allow you to calculate rates between countries regardless of which country is set as 'Home'.
• A calculator which allows one to calculate the distance between 2 cities without having to go into Time and change the Home city, etc.
• A stopwatch module for countup and countdown timers.
• Another small function called "Days in year". This simple utility will work out the weeks and days passed and remaining in a given year.
• A 'Density' section of conversions
• Some Financial Calculations as a module (things such as ROCE, Percentage Gross/Net Profit, Gearing ratio, etc.)

The current version of Launch Pad is v2.15F which you can download from the Launch Pad page.

• Try using more buttons (perhaps an extra row along the very bottom of the screen)
• Perhaps give an option of using app. icons instead of buttons
• Experiment with setting a system wide hotkey for each individual button

I have been asked to integrate a task switcher into Launch Pad. However, this depends on the time I have and the amount of code it needs. At the moment, this feature looks unlikely. If you want to try to persuade me to add this, or have any suggestions for other features, please mail me!

The current version of Launch Pad for EPOC is now underway! Please be patient as I try to create and tweak this program basically from scratch. It's coming along, but slowly. See the Launch Pad for EPOC page for more details.

• Basically, complete the code! I've layed the foundations and planned how things should happen, it's just a case of actually making things work....

The current version(s) of PassApps are at v1.90F which you can download from the PassApps page.

Not much really! As always, I'm welcome to suggestions and appreciate them very much. If you have any for v2.0 of PassApps, please mail me! At the moment, there's only 1 thing on my list:

• I may try to investigate the possibility of writing a program to protect individual files that the user selects. Don't bank on it though - it may be either too hard or even impossible to do properly.

After initial investigations, this looks like it could be a tough one. I can easily write a front end for such a program, but it appears the Psion provides no effective way to check which files are about to be opened. If I was able to do this, then I would simply let the user create a database of files to protect and check each file name agaist files about to be opened. In theory, it's fine, but in practice, not so ;-(

• Swedish translation
• Danish translation
• Spanish translation
• Options to set some of the Control Panel settings which revert to defaults after a reset, e.g. Currency symbol.
• Support for, and translations of, as many more foreign languages as possible.

The current version of Siena Task List is v1.20F which you can download from the Siena Task List page.

Basically, not much! I have no ideas for any major features which I personally want, so if you have an idea or suggestion, please mail me with it!

Nothing! There is nothing special which I wish to see added in a future version, so if you have an idea or suggestion, please mail me with it!
